Torchye uses location intelligence to help people discover each other in the same venue — without turning your life into a tracking profile.
Your precise location is used only while Torchye is open and active. We never sell personal data or continuously track you in the background.
Location & compass heading
Precise or coarse location and compass heading are collected only while the app is active in the foreground. Torchye uses them to calculate relative angle and distance to peers inside the same cafe or venue.
Location data is never sold, never continuously tracked in the background, and raw GPS coordinates are never shown to other users. Others see only an approximate radar signal.
Profile information
We collect your phone number for secure OTP authentication, plus the profile details you choose to share: display name, avatar, occupation, bio, and intent tag (Work / Networking, Friends, Dating, or Chill).
User communications
Ephemeral icebreakers and direct chat help people connect within a venue. These conversations are tied to your account so we can deliver the feature and investigate safety reports.
Device & diagnostics
We use an FCM device token to send notifications and limited crash diagnostic data to keep Torchye reliable. Diagnostics are used for product stability, not advertising profiles.
Ghost Mode, one tap away.
At any time, you can turn on Ghost Mode to disappear from the radar. You can also hide exact distance bands so your presence is visible only at the level of detail you choose.
